Bay Area Medical Academy
Bay Area Medical Academy specializes in short-term career training programs designed to get you in and out of school in as little as 3-6 months.
We are committed to the success of our students, and provide a nurturing learning environment where every student receives personalized attention. We are a smaller school and that is what makes us better. For example, our staff, instructors and administrators know every student by their first name. We structure our classes to ensure hands-on learning, a small student-to-teacher ratio, and provide additional coaching and lab practice hours for students who need it.
We not only prepare our students for successful entry into the medical field, but also develop a strong bond with each individual throughout their careers.
Healthcare Information Technology, Billing and Coding
The program consists of 500 hours of lectures and practical computer skills labs and 120 hours of on-the-job clinical externship.
Students acquire the knowledge necessary to effectively perform the day-to-day tasks associated with medical reimbursement, medical coding and insurance forms processing. They learn to effectively input patient information, run office reports, and process insurance claims using medical software.
In addition students learn the legal and ethical responsibilities of working with patient information, including HIPAA mandates, the rules for maintaining privacy of medical records and protected health information, and the types of consents and disclosures that are required in the medical office environment.
Upon completion of the course, students will be eligible to take the:
* National Certified Insurance & Coding Specialist exam
