Chiropractors diagnose and treat problems associated with the muscular, nervous and skeletal systems, especially the spine. They examine and adjust the spinal column to correct abnormalities of the human body believed to be caused by interference with the nervous system. Chiropractors may use supplementary measures, such as exercise, rest, water, light, heat and nutritional therapy.
Work environment:
Chiropractors work in offices, usually as "solo" or "group practitioners," meaning they own their own businesses and work alone or with a small staff.
Training requirements:
Chiropractors are required to earn a doctorate. They are licensed by the State of California Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
