Job description:
Respiratory therapy technicians evaluate, treat and care for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Their duties often overlap with respiratory therapists, but technicians follow specific, well-defined respiratory care procedures under the direction of respiratory therapists and physicians, including treating patients and administering medications.
Work environment:
Respiratory therapy technicians work in hospitals and may travel to patients' homes.
Training requirements:
Respiratory therapy technicians are required to earn an associate's or bachelor's degree. They are licensed by the State of California Respiratory Care Board.
