Job description:
A physical therapist assistant helps physical therapists develop and carry out treatment plans for patients. They may assist with exercises, massages, electrical stimulation, hot and cold packs and other treatments. A physical therapist assistant also records the patient's responses to treatment and reports outcomes to the physical therapist.
Work environment:
A physical therapist assistant can work in hospitals, clinics, nursing care facilities, rehabilitation centers or private offices.
Training requirements:
A physical therapist assistant is required to earn an associate's degree. They are licensed by the State of California Board of Physical Therapy.
