Job description:

Occupational therapist assistants work with occupational therapists to provide rehabilitative services to persons with mental, physical or emotional impairments. They help injured workers re-enter the workforce by teaching them how to compensate for lost motor skills or help individuals with learning disabilities increase their independence. They help clients with rehabilitative activities and exercises, provide encouragement for patients and record patient progress.

Work environment:

Occupational therapist assistants typically work in outpatient therapy offices, clinics, hospitals or schools.

Training requirements:

Occupational therapist assistants are required to earn an associate's degree. They are licensed by the State of California Board of Occupational Therapy.
