Job description:

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technicians and technologists use special magnetic resonance scanning equipment to capture 3-D images of tissue and organs in the human body for diagnostic purposes. MRI technicians and technologists prepare and position patients to ensure comfort and safety within the specialized MRI equipment. They work with physicians and other members of healthcare teams.

Work environment:

MRI technicians and technologists work in hospitals and diagnostic imaging centers.

Training requirements:

MRI technicians/technologists are required to complete a 1-year certificate program. Most MRI technicians/technologists start by securing a degree or certificate in radiologic technology and get additional training in magnetic resonance imaging.
