Job description:

Family therapists counsel individuals, families, couples or organizations in order to resolve emotional conflicts. They apply principles, methods and therapeutic techniques to modify people’s perceptions and behaviors, and enhance communication.

Work environment:

Family therapists may work in private practices or in mental health or community agencies.

Training requirements:

Family therapists are required to earn a master's degree. They are licensed by the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
