Radiation Therapist

Salary range:

$75,109 – $105,164

Job description:

Radiation therapists use machines to administer radiation treatment to patients with cancer. They use an X-ray imaging machine or computerized tomography (CT scan), to pinpoint the location of the tumor. The therapist adjusts the machine, called a linear accelerator, to target radiation exposure on the tumor cells. Radiation therapists develop treatment plans in conjunction with other specialists and answer patient questions.

Work environment:

Radiation therapists work in hospitals or cancer treatment centers.

Training requirements:

Radiation therapists are required to complete an associate's degree. Some employers may require a bachelor's degree.
