Psychiatric TechnicianSalary range:$48,360 – $58,822 Job description:A psychiatric technician helps care for physically or mentally ill individuals confined to hospitals or mental health settings. They participate in both the planning and implementation of individual patient treatment plans. A psychiatric technician helps patients with their personal hygiene and administers oral medications and injections. A psychiatric technician also takes and records pulse, temperature and respiration, and observes and reports physical or behavioral signs or changes. Work environment:A psychiatric technician works in hospitals, nursing care facilities or mental health facilities. Training requirements:A psychiatric technician is required to have a high school diploma or equivalent and complete a one-year training.
