Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

Salary range:

$42,682 – $57,949

Job description:

A licensed vocational nurse (LVN) cares for the sick, injured, convalescent and disabled under the direction of physicians and registered nurses. They provide basic nursing care, including monitoring vital signs and observing patients to report adverse reactions to medications or treatments. An LVN collects samples for testing, performs routine laboratory tests, feeds patients, and assists with bathing and personal hygiene. A licensed vocational nurse is the same as a licensed practical nurse.

Work environment:

A licensed vocational nurse can work in hospitals, nursing care facilities, clinics, doctors' offices and private homes.

Training requirements:

A licensed vocational nurse is required to complete a one-year certificate program. They are licensed by the State of California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
